The action

A scroll is carried into the Tengger Desert. Walking, dragging, pouring and ignition follow one another as body, material, wind, sand and fire alter what the scroll retains. In 2018 the work extends to a hundred-metre scroll, becoming both a line seen from the air and sustained physical labour on the ground.

The work and its historical documentation were created under the name Scynge Xing. Sing Xing is the artist’s current professional name.
